PORCH CURTAINS

When your front porch faces the setting summer sun in south Louisiana, there IS no "front porch sittin'." That's why I decided to add some personality (and protection) to the wrap around porch. I both some inexpensive, light weight silver curtain rods with small clips on rolling ball bearings from Lowe's. I mounted them to the upper inside of the porch.

I then measured the hight and width of the porch front, purchased some lightweight, washable polyester semi-sheer fabric and had a local seamstress cut and hem four panels. I clipped them to the rods and voilá--curtains to block out the afternoon sun!

Combined with the inexpensive café lights, the front and side porch became and extension of my home.

(The afternoon temperature on the front porch dropped a cool 20+ degrees.)

Give it a try!
